My Weight loss Journey

I was debating whether to write about this or not since I'm still quite insecure about my weight and have been struggling with water retention due to my messed up menstrual cycle...ok..TMI

For the past 3 months I have changed my lifestyle completely and decided to thoroughly shed those stubborn fats!

I'd wished I have started this earlier because I have no idea how did i stand myself looking like that for so long...

Back to the topic...

In three months I've lost a total of 9.5kg (~=21lbs)
I know my progress is quite slow but I was also gaining muscles at the same time since I was not only on a strict diet but also working out at the same time...I don't want to just lose weight and feel flabby but toned (I still have a lot to work on though == )

I started at 64kg ..yes, i know i'm really heavy for my height! but this isn't my worst for your information...I've exceeded 70kg before ok? LOL nothing to be proud of ==

Just weighed-in today and I now weigh 54.5kg (120lbs)

I know I'm still quite heavy for my height (5ft2) so I will keep striving until I reach my goal!
Goal weight 1: 50kg
Ultimate Goal weight: 48kg (dreaming)
I don't think I can be as light as those girls nowadays since I have naturally bigger frame and I lift weights that will form muscles...

I was actually hoping to lose more during this summer but I guess weight loss is not that easy and it's going to be a hard and long journey =( but I must be motivated!

I've lost ~= 4 inches on my waist, ~=3 inches on each thigh (Y U NO lose more! my limbs are my most problematic areas!)
I still don't have a perfectly flat stomach..but I hope someday it will be =)

The happiest thing is that I've dropped 3 jeans sizes...=)
I can now wear a size 26/ UK8/US 4 jeans =D

my exercise routine:
I opted for a personal trainer at my gym and I have 3 gym sessions with him every week on average but it's ending soon
I also work out at the gym myself even when i don't have training sessions
When I just started on this lifestyle change, I worked out about 5-6 times per week ( 4 times to the gym, 1-2 times swimming/blogilates)
but this changed when the swimming pool near my house decided to go on maintenance 2 months ago ==
then I started going to the gym 6 times a week ( saturday is my rest day )
Then until september when i reached a weight plato, I went to the gym 8 times a week ( twice on tues and thurs) (saturday is still rest day)
why twice? lifting in the day, cardio at night
it was only for three weeks just to wake up my fats to keep working LOL
tomorrow a new semester is starting, I'm not sure how often I can work out but hopefully still keeping it to 5-6 times a week because I still have a lot to tone!

eating habits:
people say abs are made in the kitchen and not the gym! it's 80% diet 20% exercise
I started eating clean! I cut all sugary delights! no ice-creams,chocs,cakes,pastries!
I wanted this so I must be strict...
The first 2 months I was really strict with my intake that I only eat certain fruits (guava, apples, white dragonfruit)
I basically only eat home cooked food (no rice for dinner)...eating out was a disaster
only salads (no, no caesar salad, only salads without dressings or balsamic vinegar) / lui cha (hakka dish, ditch the ikan bilis) / chinese food (fish+veggie+tofu only)
drinks: only plain water or tea (non sugary ones exp:earl grey,chamomile,oolong,pu-er etc)
snacks: certain fruits, almonds, cashew nuts, seeds
I was that strict for 2 months!
Now I still basically follow the above but not as strict when I eat out but i still don't touch desserts and sugary drinks ( sugar intake is still very strict at the moment) but my range of fruits have expanded LOL

Difficulties: WHEN I TRAVEL! I've travelled 4 times during my whole summer and it was a pain to keep up with my eating plan when i'm traveling... I did let myself go at certain times but I still control my portions when I'm traveling especially with sweet stuffs..normally I limit myself to about 2-3 spoon of desserts that I really want to try overseas...
but the worst part is I can't work out when I'm traveling..luckily all my holidays requires a lot of walking (by a lot i mean A LOT!) or swimming
I do about 60-100 sit ups in the hotel room (during my hong kong trip)
I wasn't so tough on myself during my Japan trip and mainly because I was mentally and physically exhausted at that time
I used to weigh-in every single day but now I'm restraining myself from doing that because I get really emotional when it doesn't go down or when it fluctuates... I'm to obsessed with numbers
I need to keep reminding myself that slow progress is still progress and good things never come easy...I'm already doing my best and I should be proud of myself!

Ok...a before and after pic throughout this 3 months

I know I'm not there yet but please be patient with me =)
I will keep going and won't stop until I've reached my goal!

Japan Trip #5- DisneySea

Tadaa~ I'm finally on my last Japan trip post!
This post is going to be solely on DisneySea~!
first question: why disney sea and not disneyland?
since we'd only less than a week in Tokyo so we could only make one day for disney and after reading some reviews online, disneyland is everywhere and there's only one disneysea in the world so disneysea it is!
Shinjuku( JR chuo line) ---> Tokyo (switch to JR Keiyo Line) ---> Maihama (switch to disney resort line) --->Disneysea

oh ya!
disneyland cater more to younger kids so if you like stimulative rides then it's better to choose disneysea...
what i feel after visiting disney is that only most of the people there are mostly locals...
at one point when we were queueing for a ride, we were the only foreigners there LOL

At Disney resort line~ the typical mickey mouse train

me and my mickey shirt LOL
Finally at te ticketing booth..there wasn't even a line! and Paranoid me decided to buy online before flying there ==
what you'll see when you step into the theme park

 group pic in Disneysea!
 huge artificial volcano!
a parade was going on when we were there!
so pretty! theme parks are just picture worthy
me posing in front of some random house
tower of terror!  the first ride that we've approach but the queue was terribly long..so we went for the fast pass and our allocated time was 7.15pm-8.15pm LOL... it was about 12pm at that time ==
we did went back for the ride at 7.15pm...
i was terrified! if you've been to any theme parks with me you would have know that I'm afraid of any form of rides besides kiddy ones, ferris wheel and the carousel LOL
but if i make myself do it i can still manage to go on certain roller coasters...
so i was expecting this tower of terror to be a haunted indoor roller coaster...i've mentally prep myself to just go for it...not until we were a step onto the ride, when the announcer say please fasten your seatbelt when you get into the elevator, only then i realized that it was a free fall ride!!! OMFG! I've always been avoiding all free fall rides and now i'm sending myself into one ==
I dunno why i didn't just give up and leave, i fasten my seatbelt and started grabbing the sides of the chair....
when the machine started moving up one storey at a time..and every storey has its own ghost/weird phenomena...until the highest storey..it was a real window to the outside world..I literally started screaming when i saw the scene...at some point my mouth was just opened but nothing came out LOL
I think i didn't close my mouth until the end of the ride and my eyes was all teary when the ride stopped... and that's not the end..my legs were also wobbly when i got out from the ride...==
that sums up to my first free fall experience

Duffy's House where we had our lunch
one of the rides we went...prepare to get wet if you were to go for this ride
well-prepared with our disney towels before the ride..thanks to the towel that i'm not soaked...
disney-must-do:queue up to get a picture with a disney character...
only managed to take one with mickey because each character has individual lines and every line is sooo long
wanted to queue up for the indiana jones ride but the queue was way too long and there wasn't any fast pass left..so we just gave in =(
me fooling around with minnie's headband
a kiddy ride that we went at arabian coast
one of the rides in arabian coast...unless you want to chill for awhile on a boat...if not,  avoid this ride because it's so boring

the only carousel at disneysea..didn't manage to get on it but a picture with it is a must!
mermaid lagoon! so pretty right? but all the rides there are for kids...so unless you want to relive your childhood like us if not, there's nothing much to offer for people over 12
 toy story land~!
fireworks (Fantasmic) before leaving the park! it was a spectacular performance and the best closing you could have imagine to end a day at a theme park!

poof~!

That's the end of my Japan trip posts! =)

Japan Trip #4- Sights

Who says Tokyo is all about food and shopping?
how about the sights? the people?
Japanese have awesome manners that it sometimes overwhelms me as I'm not used to it because you know Malaysia's services la...
I dunno how many times I've bowed during the whole trip because all the sales/promoters/basically anybody that i've talked to bows every time they talk...
and omg...they're so friendly even if you decided not to buy after asking a lot of questions...
In Malaysia not that bad la..but if you do this in china, get ready for some greetings to your ancestors...LOL (based on personal experience)

their toilet is sooo clean and high tech.. couples of times I had problem looking for the flush LOL and once i just couldn't find it so I opened the door and asked the Japanese lady waiting outside to help me look for it..embarrassing much ==  luckily they're nice...
if you see a dirty toilet, probably the person before you is some foreigner...

in Japan, after you eat you will take the initiative to clean the tables because if you don't you'll be the odd one but in Malaysia terbaliklah...

enough of my rant..back to the sights...
our first sight was Meiji-Jingu Shrine (Harajuku station)

f i have the chance to revisit Tokyo again, i will definitely make time to go there again...love the environment and the calmness of the cool breeze and the worryfree stroll to the shrine...
some festival when we were there...quite lucky huh?
group pic before walking to the shrine
me and some of the performers =D
 nature =D
 wine barrels

just another arch along the walk to the shrine
a must-do before entering the shrine
 so serene and calm
another must-do..write down your wish on the board and hang it there =D hopefully mine will come true

I just love the ambience of the shrine because it just brings out all the worries and distractions that were bothering me out and do remember to get yourself one of those cute charms that they're selling there...
it's not cheap but i think it's a cute gift for your love ones and for yourself as a remembrance...
i bought a "education" one for myself since it's going to be my Final year this coming sem...aaaa

Next sight
Tokyo tower (Akabanebashi station 赤羽桥) (shinjuku to akabanebashi through oedo metro line)
just come out from the station, walk straight then you'll see the tower on your right

we went there quite late therefore, we couldn't make it up the observation deck but we got to see the tokyo tower all lighted up closed up..considered made up for our loss?

tokyo tower all lighted up..so pretty right?
reminded me of Eiffel tower which I missed a lot...but will never attempt to take the stairs down again...hahaha...(warning: if you're not great with heights don't ever try to take the stairs)

Next sight
Tokyo Skytree ( shinjuku (JR Chuo line) --> Kanda --->(Tokyo metro Ginza Line) asakusa --->(skytree line) skytree station)
it's a must to visit in Tokyo since when they've just opened last year...
I remember there were so much hype on this tower since it's the tallest independent tower in the world
waaa...so big...but everybody didn't want to go up..no point for me to go up alone =(
but they have a very big shopping complex under it...a lot of Tokyo souvenirs and snacks to be found there..so you can shop till you drop there too LOL
their displays are just too cute =D
some really fancy patisserie

Next sight
sensoji ( shinjuku (JR Chuo line) --> Kanda --->(Tokyo metro Ginza Line) asakusa )
exit 3 from the station, turn right the walk straight until the second junction then turn right again..walk straight till you see the temple..won't miss de la..or just follow the crowd la...

as unusual as we are... we went to the temple in the evening when the temple was all lighted up...
some guides actually recommended to go to this temple at night...but it was kind of creepy to be in a temple this late and dark... so after personal experience, better not go at night la...
go during the day got more shops to see also ma  hahaha
but due to time constraints..no choice lor...

it's beautiful at night but with a tad of slight eeriness..maybe i'm just sensitive

pretty right?

next sight
DisneySea
nah.. it deserves to have a post by itself

Daiba for the 1:1 Gundam ( Shinjuku ( tokyo metro marunouchi line)---> Akasaka-Mitsuke (Tokyo metro ginza line) (just walk opposite the platform)-->Shimbashi ( Yurikamome Line) --->Daiba)

Odaiba is an island attached to tokyo through Yurikamome Line
Daiba is one of the station at Odaiba
Enjoy your ride on the Yurikamome Line because I think it was really pleasant and you get to see a lot of the tokyo infrastructures like the rainbow bridge, tokyo tower, skytree etc which was really an enjoyable ride...
 rainbow bridge
 a closer look of it
gundam outside diver city
totally worth it coming just to see this moving gundam...

 me and gundam!

Diver city is a big shopping centre itself, you can either keep shopping or like us, we took to train to Aomi station (just 3 stops away) for these babies

Toyota car exhibition and design showroom

if you're a car lover, go take a look
just outside the exhibition there's this odaiba tokyo ferris wheel
inside the mall at Aomi station

History Garage ( an exhibition of antique cars) shall not be missed by car lovers too!

me and this cute car =D

i think that's all for this post...look forward to my next post because it's dedicated to disney sea and it's my last Japan trip post!
