Not easy to blog about this because most of the place we went were by random, hence I don't remember most of the directions...=(
so bear with me if i'm being vague with all the cafes and restaurants...
excluding on-flight meal
our first meal of the trip was at a typical japanese place called - Abura
part of the menu
a lot of restaurants in Japan has this and it's the only way to place your order..it can be quite tricky to use it if it's ur first time because most of these machines do not have english..but you'll get the hang of it after a few times...
my pork rice with raw egg...very nice!
the pork is juicy, the rice is soft just a tad bit salty for my liking..i think it's because i've been eating clean for the past few months...
This place is opposite a electrical shop at shinjuku..didn't take down the street's name cause we just randomly went in..
wanted to try yoshinoya but it was so full so we just anyhow went in this shop but surprisingly it was quite good...=)
next place is also at shinjuku, the building next to h&m on the 3rd floor...
my mom and the others were tired from walking so they'd decided to have high tea there...
this is what they've ordered...i didn't try any since I try not to eat unnecessary sweets..but they say its good lar...it looks good too though =)
for dinner we had it on the 7th floor of Lumine est...
they have a lot of selection of restaurants and cafes on the 7th and the 8th floor...
if you love desserts..they have loads there but too bad like i've said above i'm trying to restraint myself from unnecessary dessert =(
it's a gyoza shop =)
forgotten the shop name but you wont miss it if you are there..it's located very near the elevator next to a ramen shop...
this is what i've ordered...5 different flavours of gyoza!
got pork one, beef one, vegetarian one etc...
quite nice and interesting la...maybe it's because i personally enjoy eating gyoza..
my mom said their wonton noodles quite nice too..recommend!
Next day~
before heading to meiji-jingu shrine, we decided to have our breakfast near shinjuku station...
it's just a random mall connected to the station..
if you go through a glass door and immediately see "八天堂“ then that's the mall that we had our breakfast...
they have a selection of makan places there too...
we decided to just dine in a French-Japanese boulangerie
their pastries and bread not bad lei...love their croissant =) so textured on the outside but yet chewy on the inside...reminded me of the one i had in France =)
I had earl grey and it was very fragrant...much stronger than what i've tried in KL... normally i'll order chamomile for tea but they only have earl grey so bo bian lor..but i ended up liking it =D
oh ya...their french toast is also divine(not in the pic)~! cannot find this kind of french toast in KL...so if you happen to be there just order...
Harajuku Crepe time!
I've followed my research and went to this particular shop because it's said to be the first crepe store in Harajuku since 1977....
Cafe crepe is just next to Laforet, you won't be able to miss it because there's always a queue
all the flavours
banana and chocolate flavour...the simplest choice on their menu...
got to try a few spoons and I quite like it..though still incomparable to the one i had in Montmartre, Paris... that was just HEAVEN!
anw, worth trying la...just do what the tourists do XD
next meal was our very late lunch due to shopping at harajuku~
same..it's just a random shop at some back alley at harajuku ..i know i'm not helping =(
I just know that it's a ramen shop...
my ramen! with the egg that i liked a lot and braised bamboo shoots that are so flavourful
the soup is so rich and tasted so guilty..coz good soup normally = high in sodium/fats/cholesterol XD
dinner was at shibuya, mark city's shishino midori (梅丘@美登利) ( you'll see mark city when you come out of shibuya station, it's on the 3rd floor)
they have many branches in Japan and this is one of them
this place is also recommended on my guide and i can see why...
look at this terribly long queue...i think we've queued for more than an hour before getting seated...
but it was worth it!
look at these beautiful masterpiece~!
my first Uni experience...had been wanting to try since forever but it's just too costly to order in KL..so finally I get to try this in Japan!
I can't explain the taste but it's so juicy and soft =D
their salmon is soooo fresh and huge! look at the size of their sashimi...double or maybe triple the ones u get in KL lor...
and of course you can't miss toro in Japan since it's just too pricey to call in KL...can't let go of this opportunity...
I would say that the price is quite reasonable for their standard of food...love!
next day was ginza and asakusa
we decided to just have traditional breakfast at a small restaurant at our hotel (shinjuku washington hotel)
cold soba with yatsai ( vegetarian)
it's ok but nothing to shout about...but it's cheap la...so can be forgiven LOL
then at ginza we found this mochi shop that sells Japanese Mochi!
can't miss mochi when you're in Japan right?
apparently this shop is quite popular..just outside ginza station
so many selections
the one i've tried is the one on the left...
it has red bean and some kind of big beans inside as fillings...very nice lei..
the skin is so thin and soft..they're very generous with their fillings..a very satisfying mochi XD
had tea at almond cafe just next to shiseido building at ginza
earl grey again LOL
lunch was at Mos cafe! the only mos cafe in Tokyo...supposed to be more "atas" than the conventional mos burger...
my beef burger..no wonder Malaysians always crave for mos burger...it's delish!
it's in a mall at ginza opposite the toy museum... ask around and the people there will be delighted to show you where...
dinner was at asakusa~!
this sushi shop is also awesome!!!!
this shop is also just outside asakusa station(exit 3)...if you're going to sensoji's direction i don't think you'll miss it
their uni is not as nice as the shibuya ones so can be skipped but their other sushi is justttt arrrrr
chutoro
ootoro...remember to order this! it's the most expensive sushi on the menu but it's worth it..the fish melts in your mouth..just plain awesome!
chef of the day~
just go there already!
next day~ disney day!
breakfast was at keio mall attached to shinjuku station...
this time we had udon!
also just a random shop that is specialized in udon
promo set: fish paste+udon+inari
lunch and dinner was at disneysea
had lunch at duffy's house
cod fish burger..not bad wei...didn't expect to get nice burgers at theme parks...LOL
but dinner was just...meh
at a chinese restaurant at mysterious island
my kids meal...just doesn't look appetizing right? and ironically it's the most expensive meal in our whole Tokyo trip...don't ever go there...terrible and overpriced....
Last day in Tokyo
Breakfast was at the same boulangerie we had on our first full day...
lunch was at shinjuku~
a building just opposite isetan (7th floor)
me and mom called two sets to share....the one above is pork rice and this is claypot beef...
it's ok and quite interesting since we've nvr had this kind of Japanese food before...very localized... saw a good looking guy eating there...XD
high-tea at isetan 3rd floor ( rose bakery)
had ginger mint tea and green tea brownie...sooooo nice! the brownie is so moist and it has chesnuts...super addictive man! craving for it already =(
Last meal in Tokyo was at Haneda airport...=(
shared this with mom since their portion is so big...
tuna rice+cold soba...
quite nice la...i liked the tuna and the raw fish paste the most LOL..i just tend to like raw things...
snacks:
uji matcha and sakura matcha kitkats
can get it from the airport or any supermarkets or even 7-11
tokyo banana-chocolate flavour
managed to see only this and the original flavour
can get from tokyo train station and airports
I've only tried the tokyo banana and not the kitkat since i'm now back to my clean eating routine so no point spoiling it
so cute!
the cake is fluffy and the filling is chocolatey and squishy ....yums!
that's all for today~! =)
remaining cats: sights and disneysea =D
