Japan Trip #3- Food

Not easy to blog about this because most of the place we went were by random, hence I don't remember most of the directions...=(

so bear with me if i'm being vague with all the cafes and restaurants...
excluding on-flight meal
our first meal of the trip was at a typical japanese place called - Abura
 part of the menu
a lot of restaurants in Japan has this and it's the only way to place your order..it can be quite tricky to use it if it's ur first time because most of these machines do not have english..but you'll get the hang of it after a few times...
my pork rice with raw egg...very nice!
the pork is juicy, the rice is soft just a tad bit salty for my liking..i think it's because i've been eating clean for the past few months...

This place is opposite a electrical shop at shinjuku..didn't take down the street's name cause we just randomly went in..
wanted to try yoshinoya but it was so full so we just anyhow went in this shop but surprisingly it was quite good...=)

next place is also at shinjuku, the building next to h&m on the 3rd floor...
my mom and the others were tired from walking so they'd decided to have high tea there...

this is what they've ordered...i didn't try any since I try not to eat unnecessary sweets..but they say its good lar...it looks good too though =)

for dinner we had it on the 7th floor of Lumine est...
they have a lot of selection of restaurants and cafes on the 7th and the 8th floor...
if you love desserts..they have loads there but too bad like i've said above i'm trying to restraint myself from unnecessary dessert =(
it's a gyoza shop =)

forgotten the shop name but you wont miss it if you are there..it's located very near the elevator next to a ramen shop...

this is what i've ordered...5 different flavours of gyoza!
got pork one, beef one, vegetarian one etc...
quite nice and interesting la...maybe it's because i personally enjoy eating gyoza..
my mom said their wonton noodles quite nice too..recommend!

Next day~
before heading to meiji-jingu shrine, we decided to have our breakfast near shinjuku station...
it's just a random mall connected to the station..
if you go through a glass door and immediately see "八天堂“ then that's the mall that we had our breakfast...
they have a selection of makan places there too...

we decided to just dine in a French-Japanese boulangerie

their pastries and bread not bad lei...love their croissant =) so textured on the outside but yet chewy on the inside...reminded me of the one i had in France =)
I had earl grey and it was very fragrant...much stronger than what i've tried in KL... normally i'll order chamomile for tea but they only have earl grey so bo bian lor..but i ended up liking it =D
oh ya...their french toast is also divine(not in the pic)~! cannot find this kind of french toast in KL...so if you happen to be there just order...

Harajuku Crepe time!
I've followed my research and went to this particular shop because it's said to be the first crepe store in Harajuku since 1977....
Cafe crepe is just next to Laforet, you won't be able to miss it because there's always a queue

 all the flavours
banana and chocolate flavour...the simplest choice on their menu...
got to try a few spoons and I quite like it..though still incomparable to the one i had in Montmartre, Paris... that was just HEAVEN!

anw, worth trying la...just do what the tourists do XD

next meal was our very late lunch due to shopping at harajuku~
same..it's just a random shop at some back alley at harajuku ..i know i'm not helping =(
I just know that it's a ramen shop...
my ramen! with the egg that i liked a lot and braised bamboo shoots that are so flavourful
the soup is so rich and tasted so guilty..coz good soup normally = high in sodium/fats/cholesterol XD

dinner was at shibuya, mark city's shishino midori (梅丘@美登利) ( you'll see mark city when you come out of shibuya station, it's on the 3rd floor)
they have many branches in Japan and this is one of them
this place is also recommended on my guide and i can see why...

look at this terribly long queue...i think we've queued for more than an hour before getting seated...
but it was worth it!

look at these beautiful masterpiece~!
my first Uni experience...had been wanting to try since forever but it's just too costly to order in KL..so finally I get to try this in Japan!
I can't explain the taste but it's so juicy and soft =D
their salmon is soooo fresh and huge! look at the size of their sashimi...double or maybe triple the ones u get in KL lor...
and of course you can't miss toro in Japan since it's just too pricey to call in KL...can't let go of this opportunity...
I would say that the price is quite reasonable for their standard of food...love!

next day was ginza and asakusa
we decided to just have traditional breakfast at a small restaurant at our hotel (shinjuku washington hotel)
cold soba with yatsai ( vegetarian)
it's ok but nothing to shout about...but it's cheap la...so can be forgiven LOL

then at ginza we found this mochi shop that sells Japanese Mochi!
can't miss mochi when you're in Japan right?
apparently this shop is quite popular..just outside ginza station
 so many selections
the one i've tried is the one on the left...
it has red bean and some kind of big beans inside as fillings...very nice lei..
the skin is so thin and soft..they're very generous with their fillings..a very satisfying mochi XD

had tea at almond cafe just next to shiseido building at ginza

 earl grey again LOL

lunch was at Mos cafe! the only mos cafe in Tokyo...supposed to be more "atas" than the conventional mos burger...

my beef burger..no wonder Malaysians always crave for mos burger...it's delish!
it's in a mall at ginza opposite the toy museum... ask around and the people there will be delighted to show you where...

dinner was at asakusa~!
this sushi shop is also awesome!!!!
this shop is also just outside asakusa station(exit 3)...if you're going to sensoji's direction i don't think you'll miss it

their uni is not as nice as the shibuya ones so can be skipped but their other sushi is justttt arrrrr
 chutoro
ootoro...remember to order this! it's the most expensive sushi on the menu but it's worth it..the fish melts in your mouth..just plain awesome!

chef of the day~
just go there already!

next day~ disney day!
breakfast was at keio mall attached to shinjuku station...
this time we had udon!
also just a random shop that is specialized in udon
 promo set: fish paste+udon+inari

lunch and dinner was at disneysea

had lunch at duffy's house

cod fish burger..not bad wei...didn't expect to get nice burgers at theme parks...LOL
 but dinner was just...meh
at a chinese restaurant at mysterious island
my kids meal...just doesn't look appetizing right? and ironically it's the most expensive meal in our whole Tokyo trip...don't ever go there...terrible and overpriced....

Last day in Tokyo
Breakfast was at the same boulangerie we had on our first full day...
lunch was at shinjuku~
a building just opposite isetan (7th floor)

me and mom called two sets to share....the one above is pork rice and this is claypot beef...
it's ok and quite interesting since we've nvr had this kind of Japanese food before...very localized... saw a good looking guy eating there...XD

high-tea at isetan 3rd floor ( rose bakery)
had ginger mint tea and green tea brownie...sooooo nice! the brownie is so moist and it has chesnuts...super addictive man!  craving for it already =(

Last meal in Tokyo was at Haneda airport...=(
shared this with mom since their portion is so big...
tuna rice+cold soba...

quite nice la...i liked the tuna and the raw fish paste the most LOL..i just tend to like raw things...

snacks:
uji matcha and sakura matcha kitkats
can get it from the airport or any supermarkets or even 7-11
 tokyo banana-chocolate flavour
managed to see only this and the original flavour
can get from tokyo train station and airports

I've only tried the tokyo banana and not the kitkat since i'm now back to my clean eating routine so no point spoiling it
 so cute!

the cake is fluffy and the filling is chocolatey and squishy ....yums!

that's all for today~! =)

remaining cats: sights and disneysea =D

Japan Trip #2- Shopping

So this is my 2nd Japan post and I'm going to blog about shopping in Japan..not that I shop a lot since most of the things in Japan are relatively expensive...even in malls similar to sungei wang, the price is still quite "pavilion" ...LOL

Our first stop is Shinjuku
Just at Shinjuku station itself, you can get to Lumine 1,2,est, keio mall etc
basically it's quite easy to get around if you're just looking for a random shopping mall to shop...

I've spent quite a decent time in Lumine est the first day..i think i've at least glanced through more than half of the mall and I'll say you'll get to see a lot of Japanese fashion pieces and popular shops like emoda, murua, lowry's etc
not cheap i would say..didn't get anything from there...

my first buy was actually at forever21 LOL ..which is 4 stories high...
they have a lot more cuter things than in KL lor...cannot blame me for buying there right?
their H&M is also super huge...dunno why all the international brands there have super big stores...

if you're looking for isetan , ioio, uniqlo*bic camera and you're lazy to walk..
just take the metro from shinjuku (chuo line中央线) to shinjuku sanchome( 新宿三丁目站) and there's an exit directly infront of isetan..
if you don't mind walking then just shop and walk along the journey since it's only one station apart...
it's not that far unless you get lost...which is what happened to us on our first day...
but we managed to go to a super big uniqlo to grab some stuff coz their things there are so much cheaper than KL...like i got 2 bras for the price of 1..steal!

 random street of shinjuku
kabukicho (歌舞伎町) is just around shinjuku area, i don't you'll miss if you are walking from malls to malls

For high end stuff, you can always go to isetan
reminder: Japan have the tendency to separate women shops and men shops..
exp: isetan men, ioio men,109 men etc
no idea why but if you're a guy and you're looking for guy clothes then just go straight to malls that says ".... men" coz you won't find anything at the main mall...

If you say: cheh, Isetan KL also got la...
different ok! they have much more things to see..even their supermarket is an eye opening experience...jakun much...LOL

they have high end brands like Gucci, LV, tory burch, christian louboutin etc to street wear like CDG, bathing ape, mastermind Japan etc
if you have the money, you'll definitely shop till you drop...LOL

I managed to grab a cdg t-shirt there and some cosmetics there..=D
I try to buy cosmetics that cannot be found in KL like Nars and of course Laduree cosmetics...yes..the Macaron's Laduree

look at the packaging=D so adorable...

The blush that i got...the pigmentation is quite nice and the shade is quite subtle that can be a daily used blusher
Nars sheer matte foundation in light 6 -ceylon
overall the foundation is quite good but the application can be quite tricky..still finding the best way to apply..=D

on our way to isetan, we managed to find a hello kitty shop too..if you're a kitty fan, you'll be squealing like mad...

onz right? mending shoes can also be classy...
complimentary service for carven's customers...envy max...

ok...
next stop is Harajuku...( shinjuku--->( JR yamanote line长手线)--->Harajuku)
Meiji-jingu shrine will only be blogged in my sight-seeing category =D stay tune for that...
as you all know Harajuku is known for their quirkiness and boldness...
you'll get to see not only weird dressing youngsters but also super on ah Pos...LOL
have you ever seen a lilac hair grandma in KL? you'll see that in Japan...
If you know about Harajuku, you'll know that one of the popular malls there is Laforet...
Didn't have time to go there as we were busy looking at shops along the back lane..LOL

so many street wear stores like supreme, cdg, stussy etc along Takeshita street...
if you're into street style, this is the place for you...they have branded stores like MCM too...
for conventional brands like nike, adidas, puma...they also have big stores there..so no worries if you're just looking for designs that you cannot find in Malaysia =D
i've gotten myself a cute pair of jeans from american eagle and new gym gears from nike =D

 random pic of harajuku

we went to two shopping spots that day and the second one is Shibuya...( shinjuku---->JR yamanote Line----> shibuya) ( same for harajuku to shibuya)
will blog more on hachiko and the crossings on my next blogpost...

Just take the hachiko exit at shibuya station and you can have a glance of all the main malls 109, tokyu, seibu etc
if you're into Japanese Fashion then 109 is the place for you..but i warn you..it's not as cheap as it looks...
the building itself is quite shabby...kinda like sungai wang but the price of the clothes there are mostly on the pricey side.. didn't get much from there =(

There's also a huge tower records near 109 men, if you're hunting for CDs, DVDs etc..then this is not to be missed...

they have also a lot of big names there like bershka, zara, forever 21 etc...

do look around their small streets, you'll be able to find cute retail stores there...=D

pics of the shibuya crossings

never ever forget to visit the drugstores in Japan...you might be able to get good finds there...
like cosmetics!!!
girls being girls...i did get myself a couple of things from a shibuya drugstore
what's so special about this? er hem..let me tell you... have you ever seen brown false lashes in KL? no... so when i saw this i just couldnt resist getting it coz it has brown strands on it which is supposed to give a more natural effect...tried on and the falsie is really soft and light...you basically won't feel the heaviness of it on your lids..good!

well known Japanese brand-dolly wink...the pigmentation is quite good but I'm used to not having liner when I go out so i'm still trying to get the hang of it...=D

our last shopping spot is....Ginza~ ( shinjuku---> marunouchi line----> Ginza)

name all the branded stuffs and you'll be able to find it there...
but our first stop at ginza was dover street market ( 5 mins walk from ginza station)

this shop has a very unique concept that basically the whole lot is a masterpiece...
you'll get to see weird fitting rooms, unusual way of displaying their clothes etc

some of the displays there...
too bad i'm not allowed to take pics there or else everything is picture worthy =(
Managed to grab another 2 CDG tees there =D i'm a happy girl...
and that's the only brand that i could afford there..LOL

they have big labels there and there's a bridge at fourth floor that is connected to uniqlo...
ok..basically both stores are 12 stories high...so browse slowly lah XD

there's also a whole building that belongs to shiseido..if you're into this historical Japanese cosmetic brand then this must not be missed..even if you're not..just go in and get a picture or two...coz they have really nice backdrop for pictures XD

posing like nobody's business..LOL

there's also a shiseido cafe just next door..if you're a big shiseido fan...then just dine in already!

the first Abercrombie and fitch store is also along the same street as shiseido just 1 block down...(银座六丁目)...was quite disappointed because couldn't see any nice things there..i liked the Hong Kong store better though this store has more stories...

nah nah nah..if you're in Japan looking for Burberry's Black and blue Label...there's a whole building dedicated to Burberry just 1 block down from shiseido ( 八丁目)
didn't buy anything from there firstly, expensive, 2ndly, didn't like any piece from this season =P

me posing in front of the burberry shop =P

i think that's all for shopping...
If you have any inquiries on how to get there, just pm me or email me..I'll try to answer everything i know...

all my buys from Japan =)

might blog about sights/food/disneysea on my next post =D for now..byebye~
